Born in Poland to Orthodox parents, he became a Catholic of the Byzantine Rite and a monk.

As bishop he worked faithfully for the unity of the Church until he was martyred (1623) at the hands of an angry mob ~ from the Proper of Saints, Daily Roman Missal
